Private Sector

Many private sector companies aren’t fully aware of how geomatics technology can lead to new or enhanced economic opportunity. But if your enterprise is based in any part on the natural world, there could well be an application to grow your business.

For example, we recently worked with a major blueberry grower to determine if planting bushes in one location was better than an alternative location. Geomatics research tracked sun patterns, temperature, precipitation and other conditions. Based on the data, a prime growing section was selected. Yield for that particular field was higher than other locations.

There are many other possibilities for geomatics to work in the private sector. These projects not only help companies, they also help the communities in which they’re carried out. Part of our mandate is to increase the prosperity of communities throughout Nova Scotia.
