OASIS, The Online Atlas for Sustainability and Information Systems, is a community mapping application undertaken by the Applied Geomatics Research Group under the direction of Dr. Robert Maher. This current version is a prototype made up of a custom-built interface and framework, contructed on top of a Google Maps (v2.0) platform, utilizing a mashup of various datasets and functionality. This is a first step in exploring online community mapping for Annapolis County.
The aim of the project is to show the communities and resources of Annapolis County within a spatial and theoretical framework of sustainability. The OASIS Prototype has provided answers to many problems, but like any good experiment, has raised more questions that we hope to explore.
